
Entrepreneurs for Planet Earth invites young students to build business ideas, tackle food insecurity, and make a lasting impact. This competition empowers entrepreneurs to develop sustainable solutions that strengthen communities and create meaningful change for both planetary and human health. Our competition is open to all middle and high schoolers. Winning teams win cash prizes and gifts from our sponsors!
The 2025 Prompt
Hunger affects billions, and we challenge you to design innovative, community-driven solutions that increase access to nutritious food, promote resource sharing, and reduce waste. Think creatively, develop impactful business ideas, and drive the fight to end world hunger.

Mr. Michael Lockwood
Teacher at James Logan High School
Michael Lockwood, a 1995 UC Davis graduate in Environmental Science, conducted field studies on reptiles and amphibians. In 1997, he transitioned to teaching at James Logan High School, where he has spent 27 years educating students in Earth Sciences and Biology. He finds teaching the next generation of scientists just as rewarding as catching crocodiles in South Florida.
Mr. Taran Singh
Environmental Advocate and Policy Expert
Taran Singh is a passionate advocate for sustainability, actively campaigning for climate awareness and partnering with local environmental groups. With deep knowledge of policy and nature, he also cultivates his own vegetable and native plant garden. An artist at heart, he has also published Time & Knots, a poetry collection rich in natural imagery.
Ms. Mimi
Instructor at Alsion Montessori
Ms. Mimi has been a long time contributor to Alsion Montessori’s education in gardening and practical skills. She deals with gardening, chicken care, beekeeping, repairs, and teaching students some of these skills. Ms. Mimi has assisted with projects such as an Alsion community garden, where students could cultivate their own plants at school and bring them home to continue raising them.
